Network Marketing on Steriods

I have always been pretty good at achieving what I desired. I look at the rough patches in my life (been dead broke three times) and those were the times where I did not have a clear set of goals. I’m wired for achieving things and having goals. With some people, if they don’t have them, they’re just not that motivated. This blog is going to give you 7 tips to achieve whatever it is you want in life. (regardless of where you are and whatever your circumstances are)

Why have a desire to achieve? You know some people on this planet think that life is about getting by. They think that as long as nothing bad is happening that they are doing their duty as a human being. I think this life is to be lived BIG having fun and challenging ourselves all the way. I don’t think it is about living some lap of luxury where you never challenge yourself nor do I think it is reaching one final goal and then stopping all growth. Life should be a series of goals and accomplishments to be savored and enjoyed with people around you that you love!

Tip #1 – Know what you desire. Most people do not know. Most people have a vague interest in having more money, or random stuff but they never clearly define what they actually desire. It’s interesting that when you watch interviews of sports heroes, almost all of them tell how they envisioned that exact moment in their mind whether it be wining the Superbowl, Olympic event, etc.

Tip #2 – See yourself as already possessing that which you desire. Most people leave their dreams in the future. They are constantly “going to get there”. If you mentally project all your dreams in the future, they will remain in the future. Act as if you already have what you want and stop craving it or talking about when you are going to have it. How would you feel mentally if you already had that which you desire? Act that way!

Tip #3 – Get out of your head. No one meditated their way to success. It is popular for people to pick on the blockbuster movie phenomenon “The Secret” as people says it teaches people to just dream about success all day when that is not accurate. Know that when you make a ton of money people will criticize you too. Think about Jack Canfield’s story in the secret, he talks about seeing a magazine one day and how if he could just sell his books through that and he later met someone who worked for them at a speech he was giving. He didn’t go home and burn incense and pray to the magazine gods to guide the person to his doorstep. Too many people live in their head. Visualizing, believing, conveiving are all parts of the process, but, you cannot get anywhere without massive action. Massive action also gives you the confidence in that you deserve it too. Most people cannot believe they deserve something UNLESS they work hard, perhaps if we could do that we could manifest things but for now, take action.

Tip #4 – Change Your Friends. This will be an unpopular one with those that don’t really want to change their life. Notice I said change your friends and not to become a pompous idiot. Some people seem to confuse the two. This does not mean all of a sudden that you are better than your current friends but if you are hanging out people that spend their days picking apart your dreams like they are getting paid to do so, success is going to be almost impossible. You are the average of your 5 closest friends and when you hang around those that have the mindset and lifestyle you desire, you cannot help but change.

Tip #5 – Stop caring what people think of you. This may help you out with #4. If you try to please everyone around you, you will lead a miserable life. Care what YOU think about YOU. You will never please everyone but you can please yourself.

Tip #6 – Stomp your feet. There is no power in being timid. Stop tiptoeing through life trying to get everyone’s permission and go out and seize what you desire and deserve. Be bold. Stop seeing all the reasons why you cannot do something and know that you are (insert first name) Freaking (insert last name) so you can accomplish whatever the hell you want.

Tip #7 – Shut your cakehole. Stop talking about how you are going to do this and that and just do it. Ever notice that the people that get the most done, just get it done and don’t talk about getting it done. Some think motivation is coming up with a big set of words on how you are going to accomplish this, that is not action. People in action do not have time to tell everyone they know how successful they are going to be, they are simply too busy taking action toward achieving what they want to desire.

To have success in life as well as business, you will need to understand, accept and learn that there will be times that you will have to compromise. The trick is to compromise without losing what you absolutely need to accomplish your goal, desire or mission.

The key is all in the negotiating.

Once you understand the fundamentals of negotiation, you will be able to maneuver in and around any meeting with ease whether its business, vendor, partner, basically with anyone and get what you want. (except with me!)

Know exactly what you want when you sit down to negotiate…

Before you start any negotiating, you need to have a clear picture of what you want and what your willing to let go or give up. Faliure to do this will almost certainly result in bad decisions during the negotiations.

Eliminate Disadvantages…

Here are a few disadvantages you can avoid by just planning a little and making the right moves.

1. Don’t back yourself in a corner by starting the negotiating to late, if you need to get a deal done quickly. The other side, more often than not, will use that to their advantage.

2. Don’t beat around the bush! Be as direct as possible in telling the other side what you want. If you leave what you want to their imagination, then I can assure you it will not end up in your favor.

3. If your not dealing with the decision maker, have someone, an employee perhaps who is not a decision maker, negotiate on your behalf. This helps keep the playing field even.

Don’t be Shy…

Never be embarrassed when negotiating. Often, people new to negotiations, feel it is awkward to ask for a lower price or better terms. I assure you, anyone trying to sale you anything will be happy to consider a better price or great terms to help close a deal with you.

The worse they can say to you is “No”, but more often than not, the answer will be “yes”. Also, every now and then, you will find it easy to quickly get what you want, when this happens, don’t hesitate to ask for something else, something more. It is always good to ask for a better deal.

Learn To Listen…

Those who talk to much during the negotiating process, are usually the ones that lose.

The reason is, they don’t take the time to hear the otherside’s concerns and needs, this is always a mistake. If you understand the other sides goals as well as you understand your own, you will have a good idea how to position your needs and a solid understanding of what you might have to give away to keep the deal moving. Listen, quite often the other side will tell you everything you need to know to win.

Attitude is Everything…

Your behavior and attitude during the negotiation is important…

1. Keep your cool.

A level head will help you make better decisions and keep the conversation from becoming adversarial. I assure you, the moment you allow yourself to become angry over anything, is the moment you lose.

2. Don’t make a threat unless your ready to follow through.

You don’t want the other side to think your all mouth and no substance.

3. Don’t back away from whats important to you.

If you give up something that is important to you, something that you believe is a must have during the negotiation process, it will create negative feelings later on, quite often, those negative feelings will ruin the relationship.

Be prepared to walk away…

The most important rule for negotiations.. sometimes the two sides are going in the opposite directions and the deal just can’t get done. When this is the case, it is always better to move on than risk a bad deal. Go into each negotiation prepared for the worse and a plan for what you will do if things breakdown.

As my dad use to tell me, a smart business person never falls in love with the deal and ALWAYS is prepared to walk away, if you can’t walk away then don’t negotiate.

To Your Success!

Have You Handcuffed, YOU?

You can have knowledge. You can have willpower. You can have great relationships with people, but, I do not think you can have true success if you possess this attribute. This is the attribute I see over and over from people that are simply not succeeding. In this blog I am going to show you how you can determine if you have this attribute. In fact, I am going to give you a way to check to see if you have this attribute then I am going to show you how to eliminate it.

The attribute I am referring to is the victim mentality. If you have the victim mentality you will see success slip away from you, but, you have to understand it is solely by your design. When you are a victim and you get a payoff being a victim, you will keep finding reasons why you should continue being a victim. When you enjoy the attention of being a victim and always having something to talk to people about, you get addicted to it and you crave it and it must show up in your life.

But wait, here is the hilarious part. Some of you reading this are thinking, “Yeah, I hate people that act like victims too”, watch out, you may have some victim attributes too there Mr or Mrs High and Mighty! Here are some examples how you can determine if you have a small to massive victim mentality:

Circumstance: Someone at work gets a promotion and a big pay raise or hits a new level in their MLM.
Victim: They don’t deserve that pay raise, how come I never get a pay raise? A victim will say this even if they never even applied for the position or tried to hit that new rank.

Circumstance:Anything bad happens to you (car accident, parking ticket, argument with spouse, etc)
Victim: This always happens to me. Figures. They attach the circumstance to their actual identity. They equate bad things happening as just how life is. They believe the world conspires against them. They focus more on a story they created about what happened versus moving in a positive direction. Mired in their current circumstances they become exhausted focused on crap that already happened that they can do nothing about.

Circumstance:A person reaches out for help.
Victim: Usually won’t voice this in front of others as that would make them look bad but thinks what about me? They focus on how much help they need.

Circumstance: Someone around them reaches success. (similar to first one)
Victim: Well, if they were so great they should share some money with me, us, people like us, etc. (almost sounds political doesn’t it?)

A victim’s goal is to show you how pitiful they are and how they should be pitied and how anyone of success or ability is evil and bad and non-deserving. Victims will look for the bad in people rather than the good attributes. A victim will search for faults in opportunities, people, companies, etc relentlessly like there is a reward for doing so.

How can you stop being a victim?

Believe in yourself. A victim only believes in their super-power in making everyone else responsible for their failure. The ultimate shift someone can make in their life is stop pointing the fingers and start looking in the mirror. Now, just to head off some riduculous comments I will probably receive, I am not talking about TRUE victims. I am talking about those who play the victim mentality like the government is paying them to do so. (in some cases the government is)

When you focus on forces you cannot control, like anyone but yourself, you lose all your power and you build your frustration. Take charge today. Know that you can be, do or have anything you want but YOU are the one that is responsible. You do not need to find someone new to plug your umbilical cord back into. One of my favorite guys that could have chosen to be a victim but refused, is Lance Armstrong. When the doctors told him he would never, ever ride a bike again and probably would never walk, Lance said “This disease picked the wrong damn body”.

What would you have said?

OK, for the first time ever I am going to share with you this rare chinese herb that has been proven to heighten your senses and deaden your emotions while giving you a zero need for sleep and unlimited energy! Just kidding, and I hope you are never looking for that magic do-all pill, there is no such thing. But there is a secret that works to help you tap some of that potential that you know you have but have not seen it show up in your results. This is a secret that is known by top producers in every industry. This is something that you can guarantee that anyone of success knows and practices. You ready for the secret?

Surround Yourself With People That Will Kick Your Butt, Not Pat Your Back

You see, the world around you is fine if you fail. The people in your life will see your lack of success as non-threatening and they will pat you on the back and tell you it is OK. Your co-workers don’t want you to get that raise or promotion and certainly don’t want to ever see you become wealthy or succesful. They will help you come up with all the reasons why you could not succeed. Unless you are where you want to be in life, most of the people around are poisonous.

A true friend stabs you in the front.- Oscar Wilde

You want to surround yourself with people that won’t allow you to give up. You want to surround yourself with people that will fight for your greatness. People that want you to succeed. People that may even financially benefit from your success. This can be found in Network Marketing. As I mainly blog about network marketing topics, most of the people reading this will be in a network marketing company. If you are not at the rank of level of income you want to be, work hard to get with people that will hold you accountable and kick you in the butt when you need it. This may be painful to you, it may be uncomfortable, and it may even really, really suck but it all comes down to how hungry are you for succcess?

Everything you desire in life is just outside your comfort zone.- Jack Canfield

You have probably heard that anyone of any level of success has had coaches, this is true without a doubt. I have a coach and I constantly learn from this coach. One of the major things I love about the network marketing industry is you are surrounded by people that want you to succeed. Quite different from corporate America where everyone is fighting for the scraps of food that the bosses and owners want to give to the employees and then the employees want to ensure you don’t get bigger crumbs than they do. In whatever network marketing company you are in, go to your sponsor first and tell them that you want to be held accountable to get to the next level. If they are not a fit for you, go to their upline, then their upline, then their upline, don’t be a lazy weiner and say that your sponsor isn’t that great so it won’t work for you. If you truly cannot find an upline person that is willing to coach and help you, why the hell did you join that company? Seriously, this is a big deal for MLM and you need to be in an area where you will be helped to grow bigger than you currently are.

I can hear some of you now, “I don’t need no stinking coach” Let me ask you a question then? Are you bigger than Lance Armstrong? Michael Jordan? Donald Trump? THEY ALL HAVE PEOPLE THAT KICK THEM IN THE BUTT, you are no exception. I can assure you that no one of any level of success got there by themselves so if you are serious about breaking through your barriers and getting to the level of success you desire, surround yourself with people that will kick you in the butt, not pat you on the back!

To Your Success!

Is success a state of mind? What separates an average person from an extraordinary person? What makes one person excel while another seems to fail at every corner? These are question that each of us ask ourselves on a daily basis and weather you realize it or not this is the root of attraction marketing. I have to go back to a book that I’ve read a few times “Think And Grow Rich”, I take that back I downloaded it to my I-Pod and listen to it when ever I travel. My point is that long before I was a successful person, I wanted to be a successful person. And long before I ever read Napoleon Hills book I was already programing my mindset with leadership skills. Now like a big lump of play dough I had not yet sculpted my future or for that matter a plan for success. What I did understand was that I had been given the same opportunity as everyone else and if I wanted to make a better life for myself than I had to EARN it. I don’t know about you but I was never been given anything in my life I had to scrape for everything I’ve ever achieved. Understand I’m not complaining in fact just the opposite, I learned early on if you want something then you have to earn it plain and simple.

Fast forward a few years, I moved to Boston after getting a divorce. I decided I wanted to be in the software industry where there were few jobs unless you were a programmer. In fact, I created my job by shear persistence. I saw an add for a software sales person in the Boston paper, so I applied along with over 560 others. After my interview and a few days of not hearing anything, I decided to follow up, every time I called the same reply, no decision has been made. After a couple of weeks of that, I went down to the office at 5pm and waited for the interviewer to leave the office.

I found out that the owner of the company would be making the decision but he was out of the country until the following Friday. What did I do? I was there when SuperShuttle dropped him off and I sat in the lobby until he finally asked me if anyone could help me. You should have seen his face when I told him I had been waiting for his return for over two weeks for him to hire me. After 10 minutes, I was in HR completing all the employment paperwork. Now remember when I said I created my position from shear persistence? Well the HR person they were surprised I was being hired because the owner had decided earlier not the fill the position.

I went on to have a very successful career there and in 2000 left and created another successful software venture before the 2002 industry crash. The lesson I learned was if you worked hard and stayed the course, you could have anything you wanted. Well almost anything I always wished I could dunk a basketball but that just wasn’t in the cards for me but you get my point.

My Crazy MLM career begins:

Now this is a chapter of my life I couldn’t have predicted would happen. One of my business friends called me up one day and says I need you to join my team so I did..LOL. I had no idea he had just changed my life forever by signing me up in an MLM opportunity.  I realized very quickly that I loved this business, I was able to help people get what they wanted and the by product of that was I got everything I wanted. Completely different from what I had been doing for the last many years.  I needed to understand the best and most efficient way to build this business. So what did I do? I learned from the best and became a student of industry. People ask me what books I recommend for bing successful in business and I have a few that I really think are important, so I went looking for those courses in this new world and guess what, I found them.

Now if you haven’t been a successful person in the past, then guess what, here’s your chance to set a new course for SUCCESS! Let me start off by recommending the bread and butter of attraction marketing Magnetic Sponsoring, a course that was an absolute game changer for  my teams massive success. Of course, there are many others but this is most definitely the beginning for people who want to move their business to the Internet and finally attract the type of leaders it takes to build a wildly thriving business. For those who have the fundamentals down and ask me how I’m able to generate over 50-100 leads each and everyday I tell them, you need an online marketing system and the best around is MLSP.  I do however believe you can increase your chances of success in this industry by joining a successful proven team of leaders who can mentor you and really get your business CRANKING. Are you the Hunted or the Hunter?

Okay, so lets walk through the life of the average beginning network marketer. I think it goes something like this…Bill goes to a home meeting with 9 other people, he was hesitant to go, but his buddy, Jim, talked him into it as a favor. After the presentation, 7 of the people leave and 3 stay behind with questions. Bill is one of the people that stays, and you can see on his face “he gets it”. Bill’s head rotated about 3 times when he saw the power of the business plan and what the possibilities could be. Great, now what?

So the next day, Bill calls everyone he knows and tells them about this great product and business plan he saw last night, how he is going to change the world and live on a beach for the rest of his life. I love Bill’s enthusiasm, but much like a sprint racer, Bill is going to be good for about 100 yards, not a 20+ mile marathon. Why? Because 70-80% of the people that Bill talks to are going to tell him he’s crazy, those things don’t work, etc.

Bill is not only using the wrong method to approach them, he’s wasting his time talking to the wrong people. The sad part is, from a human psychology stand point, Bill, and many like him, will mentally quit this business before they ever get started simply because they believe what their prospects tell them. Humans are no different than animals in that we have a pack mentality. If the pack tells Bill he can’t be successful, most Bills will believe this. More importantly, Bill’s sponsor and leadership line set him up for failure. This story has played out so many times that it has given our industry a bad name.

So what’s the answer? Bill was never taught that he needs to spend his time talking to people who want to hear his message. There is nothing wrong with Bill contacting his warm market, but he needs to have a system to pre-qualify those people so that he doesn’t face the rejection he hasn’t learned to deal with this early in his career as a networker. Once they are pre-qualified, Bill can efficiently spend his time with all willing participants instead of having to do the qualifying himself. Bill’s confidence will grow as he sees immediate success in his business and he will rapidly assume the position of leader.

Even better, Bill can now duplicate this proven success formula to everyone on his emerging team, because unlike traditional methods that require a lot of face to face prospecting and selling, the new marketing model requires nothing more than a computer connected to the internet and a cell phone!

Does such a program exist? Absolutely! This is what our team has implemented successfully and duplicated globally. One more reason to take a hard look at your primary business and the upline that is leading you.

If your not happy or not getting support and proper training that make you the hunted instead of the hunter… more reason to join our team!

To Your Success!

Did you say “Networking”?

Over the years that I have been involved in this industry, I have been asked many times why in the world I would get involved in what many uninformed people call a “pyramid scam”.

Early in my networking career, I feared that question, because I think I hadn’t completely overcome my belief that it wasn’t.

I finally had an epiphany one day and realized that not only is networking the most efficient business model in existence, it is the most level playing field out there where anyone who wants can be a winner.

Like most people, I have worked hard my whole life.

I have been very blessed to have held some excellent positions.

I do this because I truly love what I do, and it offers flexibility for me to run my business full time and lead my team with my partners.

But lets face it, corporate America is the largest pyramid scam of all.  I work for a company that has tens of thousands of employees all over the world.  Even though I am fairly highly educated by today’s standards, my chances of becoming CEO, let alone a VP are about slim to none.  More importantly, I would have very little control over that happening.

Networking, done correctly, offers the opportunities that existed for the average person before WalMart and other super conglomerates came into existence.  Back to the days of old where a person could hang out a shingle and be in business.  There was a simple efficiency to it.

In every small town there was a general store, a blacksmith, a lawyer, a doctor, and of course a tavern, just to name a few.  As a small business owner, I competed with other small business owners and it was a level playing field.

But like anything else in life, the rules change.  Traditional methods no longer work as efficiently as they used to.  Does that mean that network marketing is no longer a viable option?

Absolutely not!  In fact, if you are willing to change your approach, networking has never been a better opportunity.  But let’s remember one thing, the key word in Network Marketing is Marketing!

You can’t have a Network until you Market properly.

Most networkers view themselves as product or sales reps for their individual opportunities.  Perhaps there was a time when this was appropriate.  In fact in today’s information driven society, this idea is all wrong.

We are inundated today with ads, sales literature, offers, etc.

In no time in history have we been so bombarded with information.  Your job as a networker is not to be a product salesperson, but the CEO of your own marketing firm.  You can have a product that is better than sliced bread, but without proper marketing, you are dead in the water.

So keep reading, keep learning, and never give up!

To Your Success!

I know you’re probably scratching your head on this one, but it is not a trick question! Some months back, I was reading from my mentor’s blog and he asked the question “Would You Sign Up With You?” Now if that is not a puzzling questions, then your probably have thought about it before.

For some of you, that question is not very pleasant to even think about. But this, like I try with all my posts, is meant to be helpful, not hurtful. Understanding how you determine and answer the question, “Would you sign up with you?” can help you determine a right course of action to become someone of value that will attract others that WANT to hand you their credit card and sign up with you in your network marketing business.

Question One: Do you desire a leader that complains about spillover, upline support or how tough the business is?

Probably not. so if you want to be a leader and get others wanting to join your team, avoid these income reducing activities immediately.

Question Two: Would you sign up with someone who was not focused on you and the company you were joining with?

Probably not. In fact, I have sponsored a lot of people that were introduced to my business from someone else, but, that person was also pushing 50 other products so they didn’t want to enroll with someone who wasn’t focused on just one. I have never met someone that made a million a year in network marketing that did more than one company.

Question Three: Do you want a leader that plans how much they are going to do, talks about how much they are going to do, or, someone who actually does something?

You want to enroll with a person of action, so, if you want to attract people, take massive action. There will be people that watch you for months to see how serious you are before they even tell you they are interested. I have had that happen a lot.

Question Four: Do you want to sign someone who brags about what they did in 1958? Or that they were the number 3 earner in XYZ company ten years ago?

Doubtful, so don’t be that has-been. No one cares to hear what you did ten years ago, roll up your sleeves and go to work now.

Question Five: Do you want to sign with someone who isn’t sure about their business and lacks confidence?

Definitely Not, you will not succeed in this business without believing in your company and product.

So you see, if you reverse engineer what attracts you to enroll with someone, you can figure out the traits you need to have and also the traits you want to avoid to be a successful leader in mlm.

Control How You Age!

As a long-time mentor and network marketing coach, I spend most of my time helping others create, build and market their network business opportunity. Most of the time, I find them working harder then they need to…actually it seems like all the time. During a training call a few days ago, I was sharing what I thought was common sense when it comes to prospecting but I realized that a lot of people make the same mistake with who they approach and why. I am going to share with you what I consider the worst type of people to approach when it comes to your network marketing business opportunity.

The Friends You Know That Need Financial Help

It is a shame that this economy is claiming the financial lives of so many. The number of dollars lost in retirement, savings and IRA accounts is astronomical. There has never been a time in history where more people needed a low risk, home based opportunity to make additional money. However, those people you know, that have been beaten down the hardest, are the least likely to be open to a network marketing business opportunity.

When life has beaten you down so much, adding in your being surrounded with negative media telling you how bad things are, reality TV and gossip rags telling you how bad people are, things start to alter who you truly are. Do these people need help? Of course they do. But they are the hardest to help as they have created a layer of cynicism and skepticism that coats their real personality. I have personally watched on in horror while friends of mine have gone down in financial flames while remaining “too cool” to even look at my network marketing business opportunity.

People With No Friends Other Than You

If you dislike duplication and enjoy challenges, recruit people that have fewer social connections than you do. Sometimes the worst thing you can actually do is recruit someone. Stop looking at this business as a one time bonus business and start looking at what it really is, a way to leverage your time. You get paid on the time and efforts of yourself and others, so, if that was the case, don’t you want the best teammates? Just because you feel comfortable pitching the person that is NOT as socially connected as you, does not mean it is the best use of your time.

Deal With Those That Have The Most Open Minds

Are you being asked if its a pyramid? Are you being told that it’s a ponzi scheme? Are people telling you that it is a scam? If you are getting those questions on a regular basis, you are dealing with the wrong crowd. The wealthier and more successful people are, the less they have the need to steal other people’s dreams. You see, you don’t need a script to talk to open minded people, they are already open minded. Professionals and well connected people don’t like making others feel like garbage so they are actually easier to approach than our broke friends. And, they are the type of people you want to surround yourself with anyway.

  • Isn’t it funny how a $100 “looks” so big when you take it to church, but so small when you take it to the mall.
  • Isn’t it funny how long it takes to serve God for an hour, but how quickly a team plays 60 minutes of basketball.
  • Isn’t it funny how long a couple of hours spent at church are, but how short they are when watching a movie.
  • Isn’t it funny how we can’t think of anything to say when we pray, but don’t have difficulty thinking of things to talk about to our friends.
  • Isn’t it funny how we get thrilled when a baseball game goes into extra innings, but we complain when a sermon is longer than the regular time.
  • Isn’t it funny how hard it is to read a chapter in the bible, but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a best selling novel.
  • Isn’t it funny how people want to get a front seat at the game or concert, but scramble to get a back seat at the church service.
  • Isn’t it funny how we need 2 or 3 weeks advance notice to fit a church event into our schedule, but can adjust our schedule for other events at the last moment.
  • Isn’t it funny how hard it is for people to learn a simple gospel well enough to tell others, but how simple it is for the same people to remember and repeat gossip over and over.
  • Isn’t it funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says.
  • Isn’t it funny how everyone wants to go to heaven, provided they do not have to believe, or to think, or to say, or do anything.
  • Isn’t it funny how you can send a 1000 “jokes” through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.

FUNNY, ISN’T IT ?….. Not Really!!!

Are you laughing?
or
Are you thinking?

Wished I could take credit for writing this, I can only take credit for sharing it, but again that is like the gospel. We can’t take credit for writing it, but we can take credit for sharing it. When was the last time you shared?
